LGSP-LED is an eight-year (2008-2016) collaborative Program of the Governments of the Philippines and Canada, through the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). LGSP-LED envisions vibrant, investor-friendly and tourist-attractive local economies, and is geared towards strengthening the enabling environment for good governance and sustainable local economic development.

LED STRATEGY

With the support of the provincial government of Zamboanga del Norte, the two cities and four municipalities of DDPKaRoma banded together in 2002 towards attaining mutual objectives of economic development particularly through the implementation of infrastructure projects, agriculture and marine resource development, promotion of the area for investment, and peace and order enhancement. The Dapitan-Dipolog-Polanco-Katipunan-President Roxas-Manukan Growth Corridor or the DDPKaRoMa Alliance (composed of two cities and four municipalities in the province of Zamboanga del Norte) is working towards increased economic activity and an improved investment climate in the region. The Alliance has adopted a LED strategy built on opportunities for agri-industry from high value crops, mango and cassava, as well eco-cultural tourism.
